MATHS PROGRAMMES

We offer:

  • Weekly Modular Classes
  • Workshops for Students
  • Workshops or Webinars for Parents

Weekly Modular Classes

Our 4-module series of classes spans 4 terms in a year. Each module comprises 8 to 10 lessons, depending on the level (Primary 3 – 6). Each lesson lasts 1½ hours (Primary 3 – 5) or 2 hours (Primary 6).

The best learning outcome is achieved when all 4 modules, which complement one another, are taken in succession. However, each module can also be taken standalone where the student wishes to focus on the particular technique.

Module 1 : Jan to Mar

Unit Transfer Method

Confidence comes with this simple, logical yet extremely powerful technique

Unit Transfer Method is used for tackling questions with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages and, for P6, rate & speed. It is applicable to nearly all problem scenarios, including Before & After, Excess & Shortage, Repeated Identity, Equal Identities, Two Variables and Proportion.

Students will learn the process of restating a problem, partially solving it, to simplify it and finally solving it completely.

Module 1 : Jan to Mar
Module 2 : Mar to May

Model | Branching Approach to Problem-solving

Confidence comes with fast and efficient techniques for visual and tactile learners

Visualise, perceive, analyse and solve problems using Drawing Diagram/Model and Acting It Out techniques. Go beyond conventional modelling with Stack and Split Models to solve more challenging problems fast. The alternative Branching Method will help the less-visual learner.

Learn to identify keywords, to determine the most effective approach for a problem. The process of restating a problem, partially solving it, to simplify it and finally solving it completely will be reiterated.

Module 2 : Mar to May
Module 3 : Jun to Aug

Heuristics Approach to Problem-solving

Confidence comes with being skilled in a wider range of heuristics techniques

Students will learn more heuristics techniques like Guess & Check, Supposition, Systematic Listing, Pattern, Working Backwards and Spatial Visualisation.

With Spatial Visualisation, students will develop the skill to mentally see and manipulate one or more shapes or objects without any physical aid, and to project it on paper as they pen their answers to figure-based problems. Spatial Visualisation is needed for topics like areas and perimeters, volume and geometry.

Module 3 : Jun to Aug
Module 4 : Sept to Nov

Higher Order Thinking Skills

Confidence comes with high-level analysis, synthesis and evaluation skills

This module is the culmination of all the heuristics techniques taught in Modules 1, 2 and 3 – a consolidation of all the 11 Primary-level heuristics techniques identified by the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Students will learn how to identify the most appropriate heuristics to apply when faced with unfamiliar questions.

This module will hone students’ problem-solving skills.

Module 4 : Sept to Nov

Workshops for Students

We have different types of ad hoc workshops for students. Each type serves a different purpose. Ad Hoc Workshops by Modules help students in specific areas such as particular techniques or topics, etc. Intensive Revision Workshops help students who feel they need to catch up and stay on top of things. Bridging Workshops prepare students  for when they move up to the next level  when school begins.
