SCIENCE PROGRAMMES

We offer:

  • Weekly Modular Classes
  • Workshops for Students
  • Workshops or Webinars for Parents

Weekly Modular Classes

Think Heuristics’s Science programme teaches students to use scientific heuristics over 4 modules, which are organised according to MOE’s definition of Science mastery. While each module builds on the learning from preceding modules to maximise Science mastery, these modules may also be taken standalone to target the student’s specific areas for improvement. Think Heuristics students are ready and confident to face the ultimate – the PSLE Science examination.

Module 1 : Jan to Mar

Concept Mastery

MOE-listed skills covered: Knowledge & Understanding, Methodologies & Process Skills

No more losing marks to:

Application of wrong concept

Not knowing how a concept manifests in real-life scenarios

Cover the 11 process skills prescribed by MOE as the foundation for learning Science. Through experiments, students will learn Science concepts and process skills in interactive ways. This facilitates concept recall and application when answering exam questions.

Module 1 : Jan to Mar
Module 2 : Mar to May

TCR Science Answering Technique

MOE-listed skills covered: Communicating Answers

No more losing marks to:

Application of wrong concept

Insufficiently specific answers

Missing partial or even all keywords

Learn the 4-step technique in answering Science questions. Students will be trained to extract and interpret information from questions; identify the correct concepts to apply; and pen the right answers, with all critical keywords in place.

Module 2 : Mar to May
Module 3 : Jun to Aug

Higher Order Thinking Skills

MOE-listed skills covered: Applications, especially in unfamiliar scenarios

No more losing marks to:

Missing the point of questions

Reversion to own old answering methods

Not adapting answers when tackling unfamiliar questions

Apply Concept Mastery and TCR Answering Techniques to higher-order Science questions. Students will be exposed to unfamiliar non-routine questions. Special attention will be given to questions set against real-life scenarios – a prevalent trend in PSLE.

Module 3 : Jun to Aug
Module 4 : Sept to Nov

Consolidation

Bringing together the learnings from Modules 1, 2 & 3

No more losing marks to:

Unfamiliarity with Science exam techniques

Lack of speed in processing and answering questions

Running out of time to complete

Apply Concept Mastery and TCR Answering Techniques to both MCQs and open-ended questions in the PSLE Science format. Using past-year questions, students will be trained to decode the pattern in questions, and to tap on such clues towards the right answers. This module prepares students for both SA2 and PSLE Science.

Module 4 : Sept to Nov

Workshops for Students

We have different types of ad hoc workshops for students. Each type serves a different purpose. Ad Hoc Workshops by Modules help students in specific areas such as particular techniques or topics, etc. Intensive Revision Workshops help students who feel they need to catch up and stay on top of things. Bridging Workshops prepare students  for when they move up to the next level  when school begins.
